The game Beasts is a Linux version of the old DOS game called Beast. Some information concerning the DOS game can be found at this link or at this other link. The Linux version works on the terminal with the ncurses library. A short notice can be found on happypenguin.org.
A directory containing an old archive of the source code can be found there: http://twistedmatrix.com/users/acapnotic/wares/code/beasts/. But some new commands have to be typed in order to compile the code. Furthermore, some patches may improve the code (see there). You will also need to install the Glib 2.0 development files. Launch your shell and type the following commands:
wget -q http://twistedmatrix.com/users/acapnotic/wares/code/beasts/beasts-991004.tgz tar -xzf beasts-991004.tgz cd beasts/ wget -q http://www.identicalsoftware.com/ogs/2000/beasts-both.patch patch < beasts-both.patch gcc -Wall -pedantic -O3 -lncurses -o beasts `pkg-config --cflags --libs glib-2.0` beast.c console.c main.c sig.c
